BlackRock: Training for ICDL, a Practical Course in Win XP and Office 2003
This manual was written specifically for ICDL training. It is comprehensive and user-friendly. It can be used as a self-study manual or to facilitate instructor-led training.
This book takes the learner through each of the seven modules of the ICDL:
- Basic Concepts of IT
- Using the Computer and Managing Files
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheets
- Databases
- Presentations
- Information and Communication
It contains an additional beginner’s section for first-time users, comprehensively covering the taskbar, mouse, keyboard, terminology and basic computer practices.
The manual makes use of simple, jargon-free English. The learner is led point-by-point through explanations and action sequences that are supported by the relevant graphics.
A variety of exercises are used in the manual. Each section has practical assignments based on specific skillsets, allowing the student maximum practice opportunity. There are additional practical exercises at the end of each chapter that integrate skills from different parts of the chapter. These start with simple tasks and progress to more challenging ones to ensure competence in as broad a range of skills as possible.
All the necessary data files are contained in an exercise CD.
This manual also contains the ICDL Syllabus checklist for students to tick off their understanding of modular concepts. |
